Video guide
Fossify Calendar is a full service calendar app that respects your privacy. By default, this app operates offline enabling you to create events manually or import them from ICS files & receive reminders/notifications.
Most Calendar services like Google Calendar, Outlook, and Nextcloud offer CalDAV syncing to push/pull events to & from your calendar. A third-party sync app, DAVx5, is needed to handle the synchronization with whatever service you are using.
Calendar views
To change the time scale on how the calendar is displayed, tap on the square icon made up of 9 dots. This way you can set the calendar view to daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, …
Calendar viewing options
The effect will be following:
Yearly view
Monthly view
Weekly view
Daily View
Creating events
To create a new event into your calendar, tap on the colored + button towards the bottom right.
You can then choose to create an Event or a Task. The difference is that an event allows to set a specific start and end time, as well as location, attendance, attendees, and so on.
Tasks can be created to start on a specific time and need to be marked as finished to stop showing.
Creating a new event / task
Let’s create an event as an example.
Empty event draft (1)
Empty event draft (2)
Customized draft
Saved draft (Event list view)
Note that most of the fields are optional.
Name - choose a title for this event
Location - set a location - note that you can set an address and use the location icon to show it on a map
Description - additional text field for context
All-day - define whether this event is for the whole day
Upper date & time - define event start
Lower date & time - define event end
Globe icon - set the time zone for this event (only with online calendars)
Bell icon - set a reminder. This may trigger a sound notification, depending on your setting (customizable)
Circular arrow - set repetition. Define whether this event will repeat and create multiple entries in your calendar
People icon - add attendees. Allows to add contacts or Email addresses, which will be automatically invited and updated about your event via Email (only with online calendars)
Calendar check mark - set attendance. You can choose whether or not you will participate on this event (only with online calendars)
Lock icon - set event visibility. Usually this can be set to Public, Confidential, or Private, which may affect what calendar subscribers can see (only with online calendars).
Calendar icon - choose calendar. Here you can define which calendar this new event will be saved in. Especially if you have multiple calendars, be extra aware of this setting before you create it.
To finish creating an event, hit the ✔️ check mark icon on the top right. It will now show in your calendar views.
Managing multiple calendars
Fossify calendar is able to integrate multiple separate calendars into one app, including offline and online synced calendars.
To set up access to an online calendar, you’ll first need to set up a synchronization via an app like DAVx5.
Note that all available calendars are listed towards the bottom of the screen, usually grouped into different colors and names. To hide / display a calendar in your view, tap on it to toggle it from being highlighted or greyed out.
Ex. Personal Calendar activated
Personal Calendar deactivated
When a specific calendar is deactivated, none of the events it holds will be displayed. This allows to more easily manage and stay on top different agendas.
Note: Fossify Calendar allows to customize things to a great extend. To manage how calendars appear, you can navigate to Settings > Manage event types

Customized colors (2)
Note that it’s only possible to customize calendar names & colors for local calendars here.
For online synced calendars, these settings are managed from the server side.
Yet, for calendar colors it is possible to manage them independently locally too, as explained below.
Managing synced calendar colors locally
We are using the example of the Above Suite provided synced calendar, which is set up via DAVx5. This also applies to other CalDAV calendars set up via DAVx5, including Google calendars.
Navigate to:
DAVx5 > select your account > Settings gear. Scrolling down you’ll find the toggles for Manage calendar colors and Event color support
When these settings are activated, it means that the online calendar interface is in control of the calendar colors and event colors respectively. If you want to be able to change the colors on your device locally, you’d want to turn these settings off - otherwise it would always overwrite your color changes when it syncs.

Toggle both these off to have your local customization stay in place - otherwise they’d be reset when the calendar re-syncs.

Note: Color customization made inside Fossify Calendar will not sync to other devices where you have your synced calendar set up.
Export Calendars (Fossify Calendar)
Inside the app, look for the upper right – you may see 3 dots > Settings or this ⚙️ icon
In Settings, scroll down and tap Export calendars to an .ics file
Choose the calendars you want to export - tap on the currently displaying one to get other options.
Also, take note of the name of the file that will be created.
To change the name, tap on it. By default it will add the date and time of your export to help you keep track of things.
Select a location to save the .ics file - tap on Save to finish the process
That’s it - all events from the selected calendar are now stored into this .ics file.
Feel free to transfer this file to any other device or calendar and use the 'Import' functionality of your given calendar to get your events into another calendar.
Import Calendars (Fossify Calendar)
Inside the app, look for the upper right – you may see 3 dots > Settings or the gear ⚙️ icon
In settings, scroll down and tap "Import calendars to an .ics file"
Browse your file storage and select your .ics file
> If needed, use the 3 lines top left to navigate to different sections of your phone storageChoose the calendar where you want to import your events to - tap on the currently displaying one to get other options.
Be sure to have the right calendar selected to which you'll want to import the events into. To change it, just tap on it and select a different one.
That's all - you should see your events in the specified calendar now.
If you imported into a synced calendar, these events will also be synced to your other devices.
Note: If you bought your Above Phone a while ago (before 2025) - please know that Simple Calendar Pro was unfortunately sold off. Luckily, since it is open source, the project has been picked up and forked into Fossify Calendar. If you still have Simple Calendar Pro installed, we recommend to migrate over to Fossify Calendar directly available on F-Droid!
Here is our video guide to help you migrate.
