Disable iMessage & Facetime
If you are switching from iOS/iPhone, ensure you disable iMessage & Facetime before removing the SIM from your old phone. Failing to complete this step may cause issues receiving texts.
If you're having issues receiving texts or no longer have access to your iPhone, you can try to bring the SIM card back to change these settings - or you could try to de-register your phone number with Apple.
Note that group texts will need to be recreated, because iMessage is a service exclusive to Apple’s ecosystem.
Turn off iMessage
On your iPhone, go to Settings.
Tap Messages
Set iMessage to OFF
Turn off FaceTime
On your iPhone, go to Settings
Tap Facetime
Set Facetime to OFF
If you no longer have your old iPhone or already removed the SIM card, request that Apple de-register your phone number with iMessage.
