This quick guide will show you how to manage text across any app, customize your privacy-hardened keyboard, and take screenshots on your Above Phone using two different methods.

Copy & Paste Selected Text

Copy & Paste Selected Text

Text Manipulation

  1. Select Text: Tap and hold on any text to highlight it.

  2. Copy, Cut, or Paste: After selecting the text, tap and hold on the highlighted area. A pop-up menu will appear. Choose Copy, Cut, or Paste as needed.

You can select individual sections of text, or tap and hold to choose Select All and highlight the entire block. Tapping Cut will copy the selected text to your clipboard and remove it. You can also tap Share to send the selected text directly through another app, such as messaging or email.

Change Keyboard/Input Method

  1. Press and hold the space bar

  2. Select desired keyboard

You can add multiple keyboard languages and switch between them using the same method. This will automatically update your keyboard’s suggestions, autocorrect, and spell check to match the selected language.

Different keyboard apps offer varying features and levels of customization like emoji support, advanced layouts, and voice-to-text with tools like FUTO Voice Input.

Taking a screenshot from Recent Apps

Taking a screenshot from Recent Apps

Take a Screenshot

Method 1:
Press the physical Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time to take a screenshot.

This will take a screenshot of everything currently showing on your screen.

Method 2:

Alternatively, tap the Recent Apps button.

Then, tap Screenshot below the app window

Note: this method will only allow you to take a screenshot of an app window as it’s showing in the Recent Apps view

Using the Recent Apps method to take a screenshot can be helpful if you find it difficult to press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously.

All screenshots are saved to the internal storage in Pixel > Pictures > Screenshots

They can also be accessed via any Gallery app, under the Screenshots album.

Screenshots can be edited immediately by tapping on the the pencil icon ✏️ or afterwards by opening the specific screenshot with a Gallery app, like Aves Libre or the system default Gallery app.

To help edit screenshots, apart from using a Gallery app, GrapheneOS provides the editing app called Markup which can be installed via GrapheneOS’s own App Store. While Markup is originally from Google, this version does not connect to the internet at all, ensuring full privacy.

Some apps (banking, passwords, etc.) may deny screenshots, in which case the resulting screenshot will be blacked out. If needed this can be often be changed inside the settings of the app itself.
