Inter Profile Sharing is a handy app that allows to directly send files or the shared clipboard from one user profile to another.
Since GrapheneOS released Android 17, it looks like currently Inter Profile Sharing will only work after enabling some special permissions. Learn more here
Our tutorial video shows you how to use it step by step.
Inter Profile Sharing needs to be set up on both user profiles you want to share data to and from.
Timestamps:
0:00 Download & install Inter Profile Sharing via F-Droid
1:35 Initialize app (from Owner profile)
2:35 Initialize app (from other user profile)
3:05 Send files from one profile
3:50 Receive files in other profile
For Inter Profile Sharing to work, the following two conditions need to be in place:
1. Inter Profile Sharing app must be active and running on both ends.
—> while the Owner profile is always active, other user profiles are only active when the permission is allowing them to run in the background is enabled.
—> as soon as a user profile session is shut down, all the apps in this user will be turned OFF too
2. Notifications must be activated and visible
—> things like ‘Do not disturb’ mode could interfere with notifications not being shown
—> Notification permission needs to be enabled for each instance of Inter Profile Sharing
Inter Profile Sharing on Android 17
Since GrapheneOS released Android 17, it looks like currently Inter Profile Sharing will only work after enabling some special permissions for the app.
Preparation
As a preparation, apart from a USB-C cable to connect the phone to the computer, you may need to have ADB / platform tools installed on your computer, and use a chromium-based browser, as recommended in the tutorial.
Enable hidden Developer settings & USB debugging
To be able to access the hidden setting, you'd first want to go to Settings > About device and tap on Build number at the very top, bottom of the screen about 10 times.
It should then tell you that you are now a developer. After that, you can go into the Settings > System category, where you should now find Developer options.
This is where you can enable USB debugging - just scroll down to find and activate it.
After that you can connect the USB-C cable to the phone and computer.
On the computer, open a Terminal (or Konsole) and run the command: adb devices
This will prompt a permission on the phone to allow access via Android debugging.
Follow the official guide
Once all of that has been done, you can proceed with the guide on this link:

Example of enabling the special permission for 4 user profiles
Note that these steps don’t need to be done from from every user profile, but just once from the main user.
After enabling these steps, Inter Profile Sharing will work as expected.
Disable Developer settings
For security reasons it is recommended to disable USB debugging after these steps were followed for Inter Profile Sharing, you can go ahead. After that also consider disabling Developer options altogether.
