Similarly, if you bought it before November 2024, we recommend to uninstall the Tailscale app and replace it with the newly released [Above VPN app](https://learn.above.im/s/4cfc56b6-027b-40f4-bd5c-e86417393d23/doc/above-vpn-S6fCkp6Oxf). It can be used with an active Above Suite subscription.     ### Outdated system apps & VPN [https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/a81f324a-1ff0-4aa5-80c5-41393b66708c?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true](https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/a81f324a-1ff0-4aa5-80c5-41393b66708c?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true) If you haven't used or updated your phone in a while, consider following all the steps outlined in this video.   __Topics covered:__ * Uninstall Wireguard / Tailscale - when phone can't connect to internet here is our guide to set up the new [Above VPN app](https://learn.above.im/s/4cfc56b6-027b-40f4-bd5c-e86417393d23/doc/above-vpn-S6fCkp6Oxf) * Update the operating system & system apps from GrapheneOS 'App Store' * Update user apps from F-Droid To update specific outdated apps to an improved replacement, please follow our next video lesson. For more info and other app replacements, please refer to our [recent blog post](https://abovephone.com/more-choice-more-freedom/) (March 2025) ### ~~Simple Apps~~ → Fossify [https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/5c503c18-ff91-457e-ba18-361a9858e69b?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true](https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/5c503c18-ff91-457e-ba18-361a9858e69b?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true) From Orange to Green: [Fossify](https://github.com/FossifyOrg) is the continuation of [Simple Mobile Tools](https://simplemobiletools.com/), which was sold out by the main developer (as discussed [here](https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/General-Discussion/issues/241)). The good news is that Co-developer [Naveen Singh](https://github.com/naveensingh) decided to pick up the project under the new name Fossify! Settings and data can easily be transferred from the respective Simple app to the Fossify equivalent using the ***Import / Export*** functionality of each app.   The apps affected here are the SMS Messenger, Calendar, Gallery, Notes, Voice Recorder. ### ~~FlorisBoard / OpenBoard~~ → HeliBoard [https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/8051e149-cdae-488b-a252-0fbf2fff3d6d?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true](https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/8051e149-cdae-488b-a252-0fbf2fff3d6d?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true) HeliBoard has been officially released on F-Droid. Currently it is arguably the best FOSS keyboard out there. It also works well in conjuction with FUTO Voice Input. :::warning If you bought your phone BEFORE May of 2024, you may not have the new re-release of HeliBoard installed. Uninstall ***HeliBoard*** if it has the old logo still and re-install it via ***F-Droid***, as shown in the video. ::: ### ~~Fossy Weather~~ → Breezy Weather [https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/d08b60a5-bbcd-4d99-a03f-8e4d2c3b8159?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true](https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/d08b60a5-bbcd-4d99-a03f-8e4d2c3b8159?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true) For quite a while we used to put [Geometric Weather](https://github.com/WangDaYeeeeee/GeometricWeather) on Above Phones as the weather app, but that project has been abandoned. The good news is that it basically morphed into a new, improved weather app called [Breezy Weather](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.breezyweather). Just follow the video to get it set up! ### ~~Neo Store~~ → F-Droid Basic ***Neo Store*** is an alternative to *F-Droid*, but nowadays we would recommend to switch to ***==F-Droid Basic==*** altogether. [https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/eb70924b-3ba0-4c5f-8714-87ba7c988953?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true](https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/embed/158816/eb70924b-3ba0-4c5f-8714-87ba7c988953?autoplay=false&loop=false&muted=false&preload=true&responsive=true) This video guide shows how to fully replace Neo Store with F-Droid Basic, including adding all the recommended repositories.
