The tech space seems to be accelerating by the day and there are many hoops and turns along the way - as time goes by, some projects may get diverted, abandoned, or even sold off. There is also the idea of planned obsolescence, which, unfortunately, is very present in the tech world. Even though with newer devices GrapheneOS can offer longer support (5 years from launch for Pixel 6 & 7 devices, and 7 years for Pixel 8 and onward!), at some point devices will be deprecated or out of date.
This section is dedicated to help you get the most out of your devices in this ever-changing ecosystem. We show you how to replace certain apps that get deprecated over time with better ones.
The apps in the Above Phone ecosystem evolve continuously
— and so does our phone.
This section contains several guides that allow us to help you (or help us help you) get up to speed with your Above Phone.
F-Droid Basic - automatic app updates
Outdated phones purchased before 2025
Note: as long as your device is still supported with GrapheneOS, you can update the operating system itself to the latest version with all security & privacy benefits, as well as cutting-edge features.
In case your device is no longer supported by GrapheneOS, note that you can still update your apps to have the best working phone. After some time however, you may want to consider to upgrade to a newer device.
